Kasauli is a small beautiful hill station located in the Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. Due to its proximity to Chandigarh, it is frequented by youngsters from the nearby towns.
We went to Kasauli on one of the weekend family get together. The distance between Delhi and Kasauli is approximately 280 kms but it takes close to 4 hours to reach there by car. The national highway till Chandigarh is a dream with the famous dhabas like Amrik Sukhdev and Haveli along the way.
Post Chandigarh, the road is good until you hit the toll. After that due to extensive landslides, we had to move slowly towards Kasauli because entire left lane was covered with huge boulders.
Almost 60 kms before Shimla, we took a left turn towards Kasauli and realised that the terrain changes magnificently. The charm of driving in the single lane roads of the mountains is another experience altogether.
We stayed at a swanky resort overlooking the valley known as Winnies Holiday Resort. The rooms were exquisitely done with a beautiful bathroom. We loved our stay at the resort and strongly recommend the same to everyone.
Next day we took a short drive to the Mall road and it was a relaxing place to be. It still has the charm of an old hill station mall road without the hub-hub of some over crowded hill stations.
Kasauli is an idea weekend getaway from Delhi in case you want to relax over the weekend. I would prefer Kasauli anyday over Shimla for it calm and relaxed ambience.
